Back up and sync is a storage service that automatically saves your photos and videos to your Google Account. These photos and videos volition be attainable from any device where you are logged into your account.

Benefits

What you demand to back up photos & videos

  • Good internet connection.
  • File sizes that tin can be backed upwardly.  Your files won't exist backed up if they are:
    • Photos larger than 200 MB or 150 MP
    • Videos larger than 10 GB.
    • Items smaller than 256 x 256.
  • File types that can be backed up.

If you try to support a file blazon not listed here, it may not work with Google Photos.

Important: Your Google Business relationship storage is shared across multiple products similar Google Photos, Google Drive, and Gmail. If you have used all of your storage, you won't exist able to support new files.

There are 2 ways to dorsum up your phone, camera, or storage menu from your computer:

  1. Install Fill-in and Sync.
  2. Upload photos from your browser.

Set Google Drive for desktop

  1. On your figurer, download and install Google Bulldoze for Desktop.
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. Select the folders or pictures you want to back upward and thenDorsum up to Google Photos.
  4. Select Done and thenSalve.

Important:

  • If you remove a photo or video from your computer that you previously backed upwards to Google Photos, it stays in Google Photos.
  • If you remove a photo or video from Google Photos, it isn't removed from Google Drive or your calculator.
  • Uploads can be slower and utilise more than storage if you back up to both Google Photos and Google Bulldoze. Unless you lot need a second copy in Bulldoze, we recommend you back up photos and videos to Google Photos.

If you already have Fill-in and Sync for Bulldoze

Backup and Sync is now Google Drive for desktop.

If you already accept Fill-in and Sync installed, yous'll be migrated to Google Drive for desktop.

To upgrade sooner, uninstall Backup and Sync then follow the steps above to set up Google Drive for desktop.

Select a unlike upload size

You can alter the upload size for photos and videos backed upwardly to Google Photos from your computer.

Important: You can't change the upload size for files synced with Google Drive.

Back up your Apple Photo Library (Mac only)

If your calculator runs macOS, you lot can support your System Photo Library to Google Photos.

Tips:

  • If you accept more than i Apple Photos Library, only the System Photo Library volition be backed up. You tin can use Apple Photos to change the System Photo Library.
  • If your Apple Photo Library is synced with iCloud, all photos and videos in your library and cloud will exist backed up to Google Photos on macOS 10.fifteen and above.

Upload items to Google Photos from your browser

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. At the superlative right, click Upload and thenComputer.
  3. Observe and select your photos.
  4. Click Open.
